John 21:1-14.
It is the scene where Peter and six other disciples go fishing and catch nothing all night. Jesus appears at dawn, tells them to cast the nets on the right side of the boat and they catch a full load. Then the Beloved Disciple recognizes who Jesus is and they have a fish fry. Meanwhile, we are told that they caught 153 fish.
Ever wonder about that odd little detail? Actually the whole story is filled with odd little details. Jesus is frying fish on a grill before they bring him any. He makes a big deal in that he serves the fish to the disciples. Peter jumps into the lake after he puts his clothes on. We are told the boat is 100 yards from the land (what is the point of that?) Why are the disciples fishing anyway? Why are they so surprised to see him? Wasn't he just there at the house inviting Thomas to poke him in the side?
Scholars have been suspicious of chapter 21 of John. It smells fishy. It is likely put together much later. It sounds a lot like the call story in Luke chapter 5. As these orally told tales go, one tradition gets mixed up and told with others. One might wonder where this legend of a big catch of fish came from anyway? Good to wonder that.
A rather odd story all told--unless we pay attention to the symbols (eg. 153, fish)
A similar story was told about non-fish eater, Pythagorus.
I think John 21:1-14 is a story about whether followers of Jesus should eat fish or be vegetarians like the Pythagoreans.
(Answer: eat fish, that's what Jesus would do).
Or perhaps it has special meaning for those in the Gno. This is a diagram of the Gnostic cosmos as described by Plato in Timaeus. The upper world, the world of gods and first principles, is the Intelligible world: all of the universal laws on which manifestation is based.
The middle world of Humanity partakes of both spirit and matter, the eternal and the temporal.
The net in the sea represents the shifting world of manifestation, where everything is in a state of flux and nothing forever remains the same.
I think it is cool that legends about Jesus are similar to legends about Pythagorus. We are all connected by symbols and forces much deeper than that of which we are conscious.

Numerology of the Bible deals with all the numbers in the Bible. These numbers can be classified into two main catagories: (1) numbers in the surface text and (2) numbers hidden in the text.
To just give you a glimpse of the numbers in the surface text of the Bible, I am simply pointing out the wonder of the number 153.
As we all know, this number appears in chapter 21 of John, where Jesus' 7 disciples, with Peter in lead, were catching fish as they did not know what to do, even after they had seen the risen Lord. They worked hard all night, but caught nothing. Then they heard a man by the shore speaking to them: "Cast the net at the right side of the boat!" They did as instructed and caught a net of 153 big fish, no more and no less. This is the only miracle after Jesus' resurrection recorded in the Bible that is associated with a number. You know, a fisherman seldom counts his fish -- even he does, he counts in a rough number, not in an exact number -- there is little reason for doing the latter. What is so unusual about 153? As some of you might have known:
153 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + ... + 17
And the number 17 is associated with Noah's Ark (it rested on the Mountain of Ararat on the 17th of the month) and the Lord Jesus' resurrection (on the 17th as well). Amazingly, the Greek noun for "fish" in "153 big fish" occurs in the whole Bible in 17 verses.
To express 153 in a geometrical shape, it is like stacking 153 tennis balls on a three-sided base, with each side having 17 balls.
More about 153:
153 = 1 + 1x2 + 1x2x3 + 1x2x3x4 + 1x2x3x4x5 ( or = 1! + 2! + 3! + 4! + 5!)
153 = (12x12) + (3x3)
153 = 3x3x17
Most interestingly, 153 will resurrect itself when we apply a function called "Trinity Function" to it:
153 => 1x1x1 + 5x5x5 + 3x3x3 = 153
Usually, when we apply this function to other numbers, the Trinity Function will convert them to different numbers, for examle
12 => 1x1x1 + 2x2x2 = 9; 123 => 1x1x1 + 2x2x2 + 3x3x3 = 36.
Further more, the numbers 17 and 153 are directly related to a number in the Old Testament, 969, which is the longest years a man of flesh (Mathushelah, Genesis 5:27) ever lived on earth according to the Bible. What is the connection?

To express this structure in a geometrical shape with 969 tennis balls, it is a solid tetrahedron containing 4 facets (each facet having 153 balls) and 6 sides (each side having 17 balls). A tetrahedron is simply the manifestation of a triangle in the 3D world, or reversely, the latter is simply the projection of the former in the 2D world:
What is the hidden message here? Well, the hidden message is the same as what the Bible claims in the surface text: Jesus rose from the dead on the 17th in order for us to resurrect (symbolized in 153) from the dead when He comes the second time. This is eternal life (symbolized in 969), promised before, enjoyed by us now, and fully realized in four aspects (spirit, mind, soul and body) in the future.
The above examples involve only numbers in the surface text of the Bible. In order to go to the depth of Bible's numerical structure, one has to use GEMATRIA. Gematria is an ancient science of working out the numerical value of a word or sentence based on a one-to-one correspondence between letters of the alphabet and their numbers.
For both Hebrew and Greek [the two languages used in the original text of the Bible], each of their letters has a dual function: (1) to form words and (2) to use for counting. (See Hebrew and Greek tables). Because of this one-to-one letter-number correspondence, the whole text of the Bible, if viewed numerically, is a huge collection of numbers. In other words, the Bible is like a gigantic, super building that is constructed solely of numbers. In Chapter 3 of Theomatics II, it discusses the passage from John 21:11, where the disciples went fishing, and they caught 153 fishes. This bizarre passage has taxed the minds of many a Bible student. But theomatically, everything to do with fishes and fishing in the entire Bible is based on the number 153. Just a few examples. The following words and phrases have numerical values divisible by the number 153.

One Hundred Fifty-Three
The remarkable number 153 is brought to light in John 21.
Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.
John 21:11
Logically, if the account is merely a nice story about a historical event the mention of the exact number of fish is pointless. But nothing, my friend, NOTHING in the Bible is trivial! There is meaning in this number and it relates perfectly to the context in which it appears! This is a resurrection scenario presented in a fishing allegory. The number 153 is linked to resurrection if for no other reason than the fact of its appearance there.
The capacity of the jars referred to in the wedding at Cana account referenced in the "Third Day" study has been calculated by Stephen Jones (God's Kingdom Ministries) using two different methods. Each method results in a total volume of 153 units! Those six stone jars filled with water were miraculously turned into wine by the Lord Y'shua. This miraculous transformation symbolized resurrection as the water representing this flesh life was turned into wine representing the eternal spirit life, and that, on the third day, of course!
It is a fact that the gematria of the Hebrew for "HaPesach" is 153. It means "the Passover," which is synonymous with the first of the three resurrection harvest feasts referenced in Deuteronomy 16:16. "HaPesach" == chet samekh peh heh == 8 + 80 + 60 + 5 = 153
Turning to more complex mathematics, a very interesting feature of 153 relates it very specially with the number three. (The Pattern and the Prophecy - by James Harrison - p. 94-95) Consider the following passage.
It will come about in all the land," Declares the LORD, "That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; But the third will be left in it. 9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, 'They are My people,' And they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"

In this passage you can see that the number of those of whom the Lord will say are His people is given as the third part. Mathematically, the third part of all numbers can be expressed as being those that are evenly divisible by three. For example, the numbers 3,6,9,12...903...1776... are in this set. James describes what he calls the Trinity Function. It is a means of transforming numbers used to gain some further insight into the Great Mathematician's language. To apply the Trinity Function, sum the cubes of each digit in a number, then sum the cubes of the digits in that result, and the next and so on until the result does not change any further. If you apply this Trinity Function, you will see that, with few exceptions, the third part of all numbers transforms to the number 153!

In the last chapter of John's gospel, we find the story of the 153 fish in the unbroken net. This is a gematria puzzle of considerable complexity. To illustrate the point of the story, we will reproduce its key elements.
a. Peter enters the boat, then six follow him (John 21:2-3)
The Greek gematria value of Simon Peter is 1925. If a circle of 1925 circumference is drawn to represent Peter, then it can be filled with six similar circles representing the others. Each circle touches the center and the perimeter. Then a circle is drawn around all seven circles. Its diameter is 1224, which is the gematria value of "fishes" and "the net".
b. Jesus tells the men to cast the net from the other side of the net. (John 21:6)
The net is drawn from the side of the first large circle which represents the boat. Another arc is drawn which now creates the "vesica piscis": the measure of the fish. A large rhomboid fish is drawn into the right piscis.
c. Peter is naked. He wraps his fisher's coat around him, and jumps into the water from the other side of the boat. (John 21:7)
Another piscis is drawn on the other side, with Peter's circle in it to represent Peter in the water. The height of the piscis is 1060, which is the gematria value of "fisher's coat." A four by four net is drawn inside the large fish, and now we find the 153 fish. Each small "fish" has a width of 153, and there are a total of 17 fish: 16 small and one large. 153 is the sum of the numbers from 1 to 17.
d. For extended meanings, we now rotate the diagram so that the net is on the bottom and Peter is on the top.

This diagram of the 153 fishes in the net is earlier than Christianity and is associated with the symbolism of Apollo at Delphi. Apollo is the earlier Greek personification of the Logos, the universal mediator, and it is ultimately from the mathematical symbolism of Apollo, the god of harmony, that both the diagrams of the 153 fish in the net and the feeding of the five thousand originate. Both of these diagrams are ultimately based on the numerical value of square root of 2 (1.415), the mathematical symbol of the ideal mean between unity and multiplicity, which is reflected in the title THE GOD APOLLO, 1415.
In the Christian version of John 21, the "foundation stone" of the geometry is the central circle of SIMON PETROS, 1925, the omphalos of Christianity, whose number determines the dimensions of the entire diagram. In this Christian adaptation, we start with "the omphalos" to arrive at the symbol of "the net". Likewise, in the earlier symbolism of Apollo, his omphalos at Delphi was covered with a net, symbolizing the veil of manifestation, woven from the central source of harmony. In the earlier version, the central circle symbolizes the omphalos at Delphi, the meeting point of heaven and earth, "the golden mean" of Apollo, The number 153 also figures in Delphic symbolism, for 1530 is the sum of DELPHI, 619, and OMPHALOS, 911.
Finally, if we draw a circle around the three worlds diagram, (above) the all-encompassing sphere has the measure of 7690, and 769, is the value of PYTHIOS, Apollo at Delphi.
When Christianity began, the center represents Simon Petros as the omphalos, "the foundation stone" of Christianity.

This illustration shows how the mathematical progression illustrated in the previous diagram underlies the dimensions of the fish in the net geometry and the feeding of the five thousand. Both diagrams are thereby shown to be differing expressions of the same, underlying cosmological code.
The central figure is a vesica with a width of 1x the square root of 2 (1.415 = THE GOD APOLLO), which defines the diameter of the feeding of the five thousand geometry on the right.
The height of the central vesica measures 1 x the square root of 2 x the square root of 3 (2.448 = FISHES IN THE NET), which defines the height of the 153 fishes in the net geometry on the left.
In the diagram on the left, the rhombus intersects the length of the vesica in the upper world, dividing it into three equal segments of 353 units, the value of HERMES. This represents "Thrice-Great Hermes" or Hermes Trimegistos, a personification of the Logos.
153 as the measure of "the Fish in Archimedes
Archimedes (c 287-212 B.C.E.), in his treatise On the Measurement of the Cycle, uses the whole number ratio 153:265 to accurately approximate the irrational ratio square root of 3, "the measure of the fish" or the vesica piscis. Moreover, Archimedes uses this value in such a manner as to suggest that this approximation was well know to his contemporaries: it required no word of explanation at all.
This ratio, 153:265, precisely relates to the dimensions of the 153 "fish" in the unbroken net, for it defines the height and width of each rhombus in "the net." Figure 52. when i first discovered del washburns book on theomatics years ago i started turning the letters in to numbers [this was before i had a computer, no easy task since some of the hebrew letters are kinda difficult for me to tell apart and the greek words are made up of so many letters] and even found a few of the number patterns before del had published them in his next book one that always stayed in my mind was this number, 911--it seems every chapter in the old testament, or at least in the books i searched in, was made up almost entirely centered around this number; after that i had my 911 dream right before the event occurred i was showing someone some of the number patterns online yesterday when i noticed my 911 number right there in front of me--as soon as i read i recalled a reversal and it all immediately fell into place The Healing of the Omphalos - Our Dome of the World Perception of Reality by Joseph E.
